Luka Sabbat Will Debut His Acting Skills on “Grown-ish” Spinoff

On Monday, September 11th, model, fashion stylist and friend of our very own Downtown Sweetheart, Luka Sabbat took to Twitter to confirm that he will have a recurring role on Freeform’s new show “grown-ish,” a clever spin off of their very popular “black-ish.” The show, which is set to air in 2018, stars Yara Shahidi who plays Zoey Johnson, the eldest daughter in the family. Grown-ish will follow Zoey as she leaves home to tackle college and all of the challenges that come with it. The cast also includes Deon Cole, Chris Parnell, Emily Arlook, and Trevor Jackson.

Freeform writes that Sabbat will recur on Grown-ish as “Luca Hall, a free-spirited, wannabe existentialist and fellow student at California University.” Following his tweet announcement, Sabbat’s fans and followers expressed interest in what his style might be like on the show (he is after all a major fashion influencer!). Sabbat assured everyone that his wardrobe would indeed be as flawless as always, stating:

Sabbat also subtly addressed any of the skeptics out there. It did come as a bit of a shock to the internet that he is taking to what seems to be a new craft of acting. Sabbat made it clear that although this his debut acting role, he’s no beginner in the field. In response to a tweet about his new career move, he stated:

Sabbat has been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, and GQ for his fashion savvy, and has modeled for countless high-end designer campaigns. We’re looking forward to seeing his acting skills on the premiere of “Grown-ish,” and we’ve got a feeling he’ll be a badass at that too.
