Quentin Tarantino’s Aesthetic is Something To Die For

Whether you like it or not, Quentin Tarantino sure has a way with film. Being the black sheep in the film industry, he managed to stay relevant over the years and keep us on our toes for his next classic release. His films are loved twice as much as much as they are hated. Some films, such as the Jackie Brown and his latest The Hateful Eight, have hit the controversial discussion table, but nonetheless they are great films that have made a mark in film history.

The thing about Quentin Tarantino’s work is not so much what he does, it’s how he does it. No one could ever quite do film like him to the point you almost wonder what’s really going on in his mind: the colors, the characters, the unconventional story lines. With his ability to somehow blend genres, styles and eras, he’s capable of encapsulating your mind and bringing you right into the movie. Through thought provoking dialogues and monolouges, quirky themes and extended gory fight scenes, your attention is all his against your will. This is what makes his overall film aesthetic something to die for.

Check out some common aesthetics found all throughout his movies!

Angles – Quentin Tarantino loves playing with camera angles, his favorite being the “trunk shot.” In every movie, he makes sure to include the “trunk shot,” giving you a taste what it’s like being that victim looking up into your enemy’s eyes. It’s proven above! But most of all, he always exemplifies that perspective is key, “trunk shot” or not.

Memorable Lines – Within the epic dialogues and monologues, there are also some funny, cringe worthy and straight up random lines that are embedded in our mind throughout all of his films. I’m sure there are a few you probably recall and don’t even remember. Quentin Tarantino put that line in your head!

Feet – Women’s feet in particular. I don’t think Quentin Tarantino has ever been shy about his foot fetish, having sucked a few toes in his own written screenplay From Dusk to Dawn.

Violence Styles – It is gory yet some how finds a way to get all the feels of laughter, revenge and cringe. The violence included in his films are always emotion provoking. Street fighing, samurai warrior or gangster, he covers it all. He’ll have you feeling excited, scared and victorious all in one minute!

Giving actors a platform – Quentin Tarantino is the epitome of being the plug. With his films, he managed to contribute to making budding actors famous and helping already established actors transition into another style of acting–such as Brad Pitt, Uma Thurman and Tim Roth. We’ve got to admit, not only is he loyal to his craft but also the people who bring his craft to life too.
