4. You save large amounts of water. The amount of water required to produce a kilo of beef can go up to 100,000 liters, while the amount of water required to produce a kilo of wheat is only 1,000 liters.

5. To avoid pollution of our rivers/streams/oceans. Pollution of our waterways is caused by animal waste, hormones, and antibiotics.

6. It reduces destruction of topsoil and tropical rainforest. 30% of the earth’s entire land surface is used for rearing farmed animals.

7. It reduces destruction of wildlife habitats and endangered species. The livestock industry is responsible for widespread deforestation.

8. It reduces the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, and chemicals. Farmed animals and fish are fed a variety of drugs to fatten them up faster.

9. You will reduce the ecological footprint. By switching to a vegetarian diet, one person can save up to 100 animals a year.

10. You can help ensure environmental sustainability. A diet containing meat requires up to 3 times as many resources as a vegetarian diet.
