Sneaker Culture: Yeezy Boost Waverunners 700s And Virgil Abloh x Nike

As we approach NYFW, Kanye West and Virgil Abloh remind us of why they are the best in the business. Both designers unveiled sneakers collections for Adidas and Nikes. Kanye continues to add to his flourishing Sneaker empire, Yeezys. Virgil Abloh strips down and reconstructs ten of the most popular Nike sneakers with an OFF-WHITE twist. Sneakers connoisseurs now have the opportunity to add GREATNESS to their never-ending collection.

Kanye West is not stranger to designing his own sneakers as he designed for both Nike and now Adidas. The Nike Air Yeezys I and II was notably their first non-athlete collaboration. After creative differences, Kanye and Nike went their separates ways.  Retailed at $300, the latest Adidas/West sneaker features the Adidas boost technology and has a very vintage 90’s look. Both Kid Cudi and Kim Kardashian-West sported the latest kicks in gray/chalk white/core black colorway.

The Yeezy Mafia Instagram Account released pictures of two new Wave Runners versions online. The Wave Runners in Sand/Green featuring a sand-colored accents and the Midnight Navy, and Cream versions with the built-in suede and leather. Although, Yeezy Mafia states that the midnight navy are fakes. So be careful.

Virgil Abloh and Nike unveiled the collection that consist of ten of Nike’s most popular sneakers, reconstructed by the fashion designer. The founder and creative director of Off-White spoke to BOF (Business of Fashion) exclusively about his partnership with Nike. “The idea of the ten is Nike going into it’s history and asking a designer such as myself to tell a story by highlighting a design detail and innovation within [each of the] ten models.” Nike will host “Nike Off Campus” events in New York City and London to celebrate The Ten collection. “Nike Off Campus” will take place in New York City from September 6-8 and from September 14-17 in East London.
