These days, you can catch creator of 1AM Vibes, Yes Julz, promoting new artists, curating dope playlists, and chopping it up with some of our favorite artists of the times. Recently on the extended version of 1AM Vibes, #NeverNotWorking Podcast, fellow up and coming rapper 070 Shake interviewed Awful Records’ Tommy Genesis on the current times of music.
Almost three years ago, Keith Charles SPACEBAR (DJ/Producer of Awful Records), Dexter and Father found the rapper’s Instagram through the wave of her music on Soundcloud while she was just running art galleries and making music on the side. Since the artists from Awful signed her, she’s released her mixtape World Vision and has collabed w/a numerous amount of Awful Record artists such as Ethereal, Abra, and more . Recently Tommy has starred in the latest fashion film for Mercedes Benz alongside M.I.A and has been planning the release of World Vision 2.
Because she didn’t want to spoil what she has up her sleeve, she doesn’t spare too many details during the interview . Although she didn’t reveal much about the upcoming project, she did however provide other insightful answers. During the intriguing discussion, she expresses her appreciation for Punk, touring, keeping certain information private in the public eye, not forcing music down people’s throats, and gives a special message to all of her fans. Being that ladies of hip-hop such as Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj have been providing exactly what we needed for the sake of the culture lately, 070 leaves the conversation with Tommy on the notion that “It’s a good time for women in rap.” Even though Genesis has her own style, now is the time to really embrace and make room for what she’s adding to the game.
