#VashtieEats: Jack’s Wife Frieda

A love story for the ages is what Jack’s Wife Frieda would be considered to be. Two immigrants by the name of Jack and Frieda (if you hadn’t caught on) began their lives together in Johannesburg in 1930. As the old saying goes, “first come loves, then comes marriage, then comes Jack and Frieda with two baby carriages”. Their kids had kids, and one in particular had the idea of living the All-American dream, and that is where our story begin

Dean, the infamous grandchild took his dream and determination to New York, met a girl with the same passions and backstory, and began a love story of their own. With hard work and a bold leap of faith they created what is known today as, “Jack’s Wife Frieda.” The catchy yet unique title stems from the roots of their family culture and the memories that resonates within all of them.

The family dynamic is not only embodied by the restaurant’s atmosphere but in its food selection as well. You can find a taste of their South African, Israel, and of course New York family tradition dishes, making it as authentic as it can get. As of today Jack’s Wife Frieda has three locations in New York. Placed in SoHo, West Village, and Chelsea, these spots are opened 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

A love story that turned into something special can now be shared amongst all of us. If you’re ever in New York be sure to take acknowledgement of this, and visit Jack’s Wife Frieda.
