Tierra Whack has rapidly and undeniably taken the Contemporary Rap & R&B scene by storm. In what feels like just a year, she has received widespread acclaim for her theatrical approach to music and standout visuals. Whack World, Tierra’s 2018 debut studio album, featured 15 minute-long-songs each telling a story that upholds on its own. She opened up the first 20 seconds of her album with, “Best believe I’m gon’ sell. If I just be myself.” Hearing that, you still could barely wrap your head around what’s to come. To take it up a notch further, EVERY song was accompanied by a visual (more like a short film), which received critical success as well; 4 million views on YouTube and counting. It features surrealistic scenes and sounds. Words just don’t do it justice.
If you’re searching for a breath of fresh air, some songs to start with are, “Hungry Hippo”, “Unemployed”, “F**k Off”, “Cable Guy” etc. and if you begin with the visual, it will all come together perfectly. I would also like to proudly emphasize her freestyles, (one of her most recent on TimWestwoodTV). I can’t stress enough her flow is way better than your average and each word she delivers is exceptionally clear; makes you wonder how her breath control is that damn good.
Whack was just announced on the 12th annual XXL Freshman Class lineup, which is telling as her career continues to rise.
