Last year the lyrically devastating rapper from the “norfside,” Vince Staples, delivered his Prima Donna LP. Prima Donna was a follow up to his impressive debut album, Summertime 06′. He has features like Kilo Kish — who he just wrapped up his Life Aquatic Tour with–, Jhene Aiko, Cutthroat Boyz’s A$ton Matthew and Joey Fatts and more. With his first few bodies of work, we were able to see Vince put his raw thoughts and his life’s complexity amongst a double sided, conversational piece that introduced him to the world in the best fashion .
Recently, Vince not only covered Complex but also sat down with veteran hip-hop journalist, Tourè, to do what he does best, keep it real. In the interview, he discusses the perspective of his upcoming second album, Big Fish Theory. Vince says that the album will revolve around “larger than life” perceptions and learning about himself being as the theory his album is named after, the big fish in a little pond (aka the industry.) Although, he shares the juicy concept of the Big Fish Theory, he doesn’t spare any features or a prospective date.
We have only a little room to speculate what will be on the album although Vince did recently put out his single “Bagbak,” is featured on the Gorillaz‘s upcoming project and has collaborated with GTA and Kali Uchis late last year. Besides talks of the album, they also explore Vince’s entertaining yet unique point of views on toddlers and fans, “loving hip hop”, the corniness in rap beef, why he wants a shoes-off type of crib and much more.
