#WellnessWednesday: Vegan Spring Treats

There’s never a wrong time for ice cream. Whether you’re celebrating the beginning of Spring or if you just need an ice cream sandwich to get you through the day, we recommend keeping a stash in the freezer. Although more ice creameries are beginning to offer non-dairy options, the hunt for vegan-friendly sweets is still real. Here are some of our favorite shops serving up plant and planet-friendly treats:

Van Leuwen

Van Leuwen is known for 3 things: their pretty pastel packaging, their signature daffodil yellow truck and their large assortment of vegan flavors. Since 2008 Van Leuwen has been serving the streets of NYC with classic and out of the box flavors of vegan ice cream. Their batches start with house-made cashew milk and are mixed with organic ingredients to craft creamy delicious ice cream. Flavors like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cookie Crumble Strawberry Jam, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Salted Carmel. If you’re in the mood for something different than scoops on a cone, you can have a seat at one of their many locations and enjoy a milkshake, sundae and even an affogato, which are hard to come by when you need a vegan scoop.

Ample Hills Creamery

Ample Hills Creamery has some crazy out of the box ice cream flavors but they also have a cool selection of vegan sorbets. Creamy and dairy-free, the King of Mangos flavor is one of their most popular sorbets. They also offer an array of creative and gluten-free ice cream flavors like Mexican Hot Chocolate and Peppermint Pattie. Delicious flavors aside you can visit the Ample Hills Creamery factory, which houses the interactive ice cream museum, to learn all about how their treats are made.

By Chloe

By Chloe is known around town for their plant-based meals and desserts. They have an eclectic selection of ice cream flavors that are both vegan and gluten-free. Flavors like Coffee & Cookies, PB &J, Kale Cookies & Cream, and Strawberry Jam are all included on their “Chill” menu. The cold treats menu also includes push-pops! The pops come in a variety of flavors like Matcha Coconut, Birthday Cake and Quinoa Horchata. By Chloe also gets bonus points for their revolving list of in-store dessert events and specialty items.

Blossom Ice Cream

If you’re looking for a little bit of an unusual treat, you’ll definitely want to check out Blossom Ice Cream’s hand-rolled iced creams. The rolled treat originated in Thailand but is now available at Blossoms shop in Brooklyn. The shop offers organic soy-based vegan rolls of goodness in flavors like Wild Berry Lavender, Rose, Sweetheart, and Key Lime Pie. You can also top your selection with an assortment of fresh fruits, cookies and more.
