Joeboy, the Nigerian singer known for the Summer smash “Baby,” is back with his new single “Beginning,” produced by Killertunes. Nigerian music is permeating the airwaves bringing international attention to afrobeats artists such as Davido, Burna Boy and now newly recognized, Joeboy. He’s a 22 year old, recent graduate of the University of Lagos and now the first artist to be apart of emPawa Africa, a mentorship program that fosters talent, founded by Afroppop superstar, Mr Eazi, in 2018. Since his debut emPawa release “FÀÀJÍ,” he has become one of Nigeria’s leading, young artists touring across West and East Africa. His music has also been featured by Rolling Stone and CNN.
Inspired by a true story, Joeboy’s “Beginning” is a song in which he finds himself catching feelings for a friend whose advances he had initially dismissed. The video is a charming animation capturing the space between the friend zone and romance. As he states in the lyrics “I’m beginning to begin to fall in love.”
“Beginning” is available now on all streaming services!
